Improving our masonic edifice,
following the historic path of our masonic forefathers, having an impact
Masonry is the world’s first and largest fraternal organization. It is guided by the enduring belief that each man has a responsibility to make the world a better place. For 300 years, Freemasonry has enhanced and strengthened the character of individual men by providing opportunities for fellowship, charity, and the search for truth – within ourselves and the larger world.
Atlas Chapter’s mission is to promote personal growth and support the mission and purpose of the lodges we serve. We take responsibility for the well-being of our brothers and companions, our families, and the community as a whole. We value respect, kindness, tolerance, and our differences – religious, ethnic, cultural, generational, and educational, and strive for harmony in our individual lives, in our lodge, and in the global community.
We meet the third Monda of February, May, August and November in Freemason’s Hall at the California Masonic Memorial Temple. As a chapter, we strive to be active in our community and the lodges we serve. We have various charitable and educational events throughout the year, as well as social occasions. Some events are for members only, but many include our families.
We confer the Mark Master Mason, virtual Past Master, Most Excellent Master and Royal Arch Degree.
“The Royal Arch completes the man by leading him from the practical to the spiritual, and there dwells in every Royal Arch Mason the capacity to be greater than himself.” We contain an innate desire to connect with the spiritual nature of the Divine Being, and the Royal Arch Mason builds upon his edifice, unbound from the formal confines of any one religion by inviting ”the candidate to consider the nature of God and his relationship with Him”. He embarks on a journey of self-actualization and spiritual knowledge. Involvement in the Royal Arch will acquaint you with a trove of Brothers beyond your own Lodge.
The Royal Arch Degree is viewed by many Freemason scholars as a complement of the Master Mason’s Degree because of its inclusion as part of the Third Degree until the formation of the United Grand Lodge of England. Today, Royal Arch Masonry considers the Royal Arch Degree to be a separate appendant degree, and in its own right, the natural progression from the Third Degree. From a Biblical standpoint, the Degrees are founded upon the destruction of the first and the building of the second Temple in Jerusalem. From both a historical point of view and an allegorical Biblical perspective, the York Rite’s Royal Arch Degrees are rich in history and symbolism.
Royal Arch Research Assistance (R.A.R.A.) was incorporated in the State of Kentucky in 1974. The purpose of the organization is to research and promote solutions to Central Auditory Processing Disorder or CAPD, a hearing deficiency that does not allow those afflicted to distinguish sounds that can be heard by those with regular hearing. As Royal Arch Masons, we participate in this endeavor to promote a greater commitment to community involvement and Royal Arch Masonry.
Atlas Chapter, R.A.M. membership is open to Past Masters of lodges who meet in Freemason’s Hall in the California Masonic Memorial Temple and who meet the qualifications and standards of character and intention, and who believe in a Supreme Being. Men of all ethnic and religious backgrounds are welcome.
One of Freemasonry’s customs is not to solicit members – men must seek membership on their own initiative. Anyone is welcome to request information about capitular masonry.
If you are interested in applying for membership to our chapter, now is a good time to start. Please contact us to schedule a visit during an event, or request more information.
